About Paula Rua
Paula Rua’s courageous journey to helping others fight mental illness and rebuild their lives began with the imprints of her own childhood trauma. Having experienced many traumatic incidents from an early age, Paula has dedicated her life to educating herself and others on managing their symptoms and healing the parts of them that remained frozen in the past. Paula knows first-hand it’s all too easy to hide feelings of fear and sadness behind a smile, but with that smile comes strength.
In 2022, Paula created The Powers of 5 to share her experience with mental health and her 5 coping mechanisms to allow people with the severest forms of trauma put all the pieces back together again. She hopes by sharing her story through The Powers of 5 that she will inspire others to do the same and learn ways to work through their mental illness.
“Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”
– Robin Williams
May is National Mental Health Awareness Month
Join The Powers of 5 and Support Mental Health Awareness
One in five people suffer from mental illness. In honor of National Mental Health Awareness Month in May, I ask you to join The Powers of 5 by checking on 5 of your friends. Once you do so, take a selfie with the number 5 on your palm, tag @PaulaPowersof5 on Instagram, and tag 5 friends, requesting that they do the same.
Let’s spread awareness of how prevalent mental illness is and be reminded that we never know what struggles a person is going through on the inside.
